PUBLIC NOTICES - INFORMATION AND REGULATIONS

Listed below are the current notices for the City of Deer Park, Texas.

Section 551.002 of the Texas Government Code provides that every regular, or special called meeting of a governmental body shall be open to the public. Section 551.031 provides that notices must:

(1) Be in writing and clearly state the date, hour, place, and subject of each meeting

(2) Be posted at least 72 hours prior to scheduled time of the meeting

(3) Be posted in two locations: On a bulletin board convenient to the public (Deer Park City Hall, located at 710 E. San Augustine), and on the City of Deer Park website.

Board of Adjustments

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Adjustment of the City of Deer Park, Texas will hold a public hearing at City Hall, 710 East San Augustine Street, Deer Park, Texas at 6:10 p.m. on the 2nd day of October, 2023  at which time and place they will hear all persons desiring to be heard on or in connection with any matter or question relating to the requests from the following:

 - Rodney Conaway for a two (2) foot variance to the side building line to construct a carport at 2202 Limerick Court.

- Rodney Conaway for a thirteen (13) foot variance to the length of a carport to be constructed 2202 Limerick Court.

Notice is hereby given that the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Deer Park, Texas will hold a public hearing at City Hall, 710 East San Augustine Street, Deer Park, Texas at  6:20 p.m. on the 2nd day of October 2023, at which time and place they will hear all persons desiring to be heard on or in connection with any matter or question relating to the request from Mead & Hunt/SFC Global Supply Chain, Inc., for a Specific Use Permit for a new wastewater pretreatment plant to be constructed at 612 Georgia Avenue.

ON TAX INCREASE 

Notice of Tax Rate Increase Hearing (PDF)

A tax rate of $0.720000 per $100 valuation has been proposed by the governing body of CITY OF DEER PARK. 

 

PROPOSED TAX RATE

NO-NEW-REVENUE TAX RATE 

$0.648476 per $100

 

VOTER-APPROVAL TAX RATE 

$0.720093 per $100


 The no-new-revenue tax rate is the tax rate for the 2023 tax year that will raise the same amount of property tax revenue for CITY OF DEER PARK from the same properties in both the 2022 tax year and the 2023 tax year.
 
 The voter-approval rate is the highest tax rate that CITY OF DEER PARK may adopt without holding an election to seek voter approval of the rate.
 
 The proposed tax rate is greater than the no-new-revenue tax rate. This means that CITY OF DEER PARK is proposing to increase property taxes for the 2023 tax year.
 
 A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED TAX RATE WILL BE HELD ON September 19, 2023 AT 7:30 PM AT City of Deer Park Council Chambers; 710 E. San Augustine St, Deer Park, TX 77536.
 
 The proposed tax rate is not greater than the voter-approval tax rate. As a result, CITY OF DEER PARK is not required to hold an election at which voters may accept or reject the proposed tax rate. However, you may express your support for or opposition to the proposed tax rate by contacting the members of the City of Deer Park City Council of CITY OF DEER PARK at their offices or by attending the public hearing mentioned above.

 This budget is estimated to raise more total property taxes than last year’s budget by $2,560,000, an increase of 10.20%. Based on taxable value information currently available from the Harris County Appraisal District, it is not possible at this time to determine the amount of this additional property tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the roll this year.
