Boards & Commissions

There are currently five boards and commissions consisting of citizens who have expressed their desire to serve the city and citizens by volunteering their time.

Terms

The terms for the boards and commissions are usually two-year alternating terms and the members are appointed by the City Council per the Policy and Procedures for Boards and Commissions.  The policy has been updated as of October 2022.

An application is required for four of the boards and can be downloaded and provided to the City Secretary for submission to the Boards and Commission Appointment Committee for recommendation to City Council.   Applications are only accepted for board openings that are published.  See below for any current vacancies.

Vacancy Announcement: 

Starting February 20, 2026, the City of Deer Park is accepting applications for one position on the Parks and Recreation Committee due to an election vacancy.  The board meets the first Monday of each month at 11:30 am at the Dow Active Complex (DAC).  The term of office is for two years starting in May 2026.  The deadline for submitting an application is March 31, 2026.    

 Board Composition:  

The commission shall consist of five persons, who shall be appointed by the city council.  The members shall serve without compensation.  The term of office for the members of the parks and recreation commission shall be for two years. Two of the members shall be appointed in even-numbered years and three members shall be appointed in odd-numbered years

2.       Stop by City Secretary’s office in person to pick up a printed copy (we provide notary service);
3.       Print and complete the PDF file, have it notarized; then drop it off at the City Secretary’s office 710 E. San Augustine, Deer Park, TX 77536 or
4.       Mail to City of Deer Park, Attn: City Secretary, P.O. Box 700, Deer Park, TX 77536 the notarized completed application and criminal background 
           check form. If mailed, the packet must be received by 5:00 pm in the City Secretary’s office by the due date listed above.

Board of Adjustment - One Alternate Member Vacancy

 The City of Deer Park is officially accepting applications for an Alternate Member on the Board of Adjustment. If you are interested in local governance, zoning, and helping your community grow responsibly, we want to hear from you!

🗓️ Meeting Schedule

  • When:               The first Monday of each month.
  • Time:                6:28 PM (may change slightly– check agenda for each meeting)
  • Hearings:        6:20 PM (when scheduled)

💰 Compensation and Board Composition 

  • Attendance Pay: Alternate members receive $10.00 per meeting when designated to sit for an absent regular member.
  • Board Composition: This board is comprised of five (5) regular members and two (2) alternates who all serve staggered two-year terms.
  • Term:  This vacancy position will start on June 1, 2026, and end on May 31, 2028.
