JOIN THE CITY OF DEER PARK BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT

❗️Accepting Applications for One (1) Alternate Board Member❗️

The City of Deer Park is seeking a dedicated community member to serve as an Alternate on the Board of Adjustment due to an upcoming vacancy. Help shape our city’s landscape by reviewing variances and ensuring fair application of city ordinances!

THE DETAILS

Meetings: 1st Monday of each month @ 6:28 PM with hearings scheduled at 6:20 pm as needed

Compensation: $10.00 per meeting (when designated to sit for an absent member).

Key Duties: Hear appeals on administrative decisions, authorize property variances, and grant special exceptions for land use and development.

HOW TO APPLY

Deadline: April 10, 2026, by 5:00 PM

1. ONLINE: Download the application & background check form at deerparktx.gov/248/BOARDS-COMMISSIONS-COMMITTEES-DISTRICTS, fill it out, have it notarized, and email it to amsmith@deerparktx.org.
2. IN-PERSON: Visit the City Secretary’s Office at 710 E. San Augustine (Notary service available on-site)
3. EMAIL: Send notarized forms to amsmith@deerparktx.org

If you’ve recently received a door hanger from AT&T or Ezee Fiber, high-speed internet construction is officially coming to your street. Over the next few days, you may notice colored flags or paint in your yard marking underground utilities; please do not move or remove these. Crews will be working within public rights-of-way and utility easements, typically beginning 2–5 days after notice is given, weather permitting. To ensure the work goes smoothly, please keep your gates unlocked during working hours and ensure all pets remain inside the house while crews are active in your yard.

Don’t let a late postmark cost you! 📬

The City of Deer Park wants to ensure your payments and legal documents are always on time. Due to recent USPS processing changes, dropping mail in a blue collection box no longer guarantees a same-day postmark.

Why it matters: Many deadlines (like property taxes and utilities) are based on the postmark date. If your mail sits in a box for a day or two before being scanned, it could be marked late—even if you dropped it off on time.

How to stay safe:

✅ Mail items well in advance of the deadline.

✅ Take your mail inside the Post Office and ask for a hand-stamped postmark.

✅ Drop off payments in person at City Hall when possible.

Stay ahead of the deadline and avoid unnecessary late fees!

The City of Deer Park’s fiscal year begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. Annually, the City shall prepare a budget to provide for the short-term and long-term needs of the City through strategic management and preservation of its financial resources. This budget shall be prepared in accordance with the City’s financial management policy. It shall be structurally balanced and shall address City Council priorities. A printed copy of the City’s annual budget is available for public viewing during normal business hours at the Deer Park Public Library and at the City Secretary’s office in City Hall.

The Ella & Friends Dog Park will close on March 24th to make way for the construction of the new Jimmy Burke Activity Center, Visitors Center and Museum, and a brand-new dog park! This closure will be in effect until further notice.
