Deer Park Public Library is joining National Novel Writing Month (NANOWRIMO) as a Come Write In location. NANOWRIMO, which is one part boot camp and one part rollicking party is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The theme this year is NANOWRIMO Is a Shot of Caffeine for My Creative Life.
During November, we encourage aspiring novelists to come to the library and use the facility – wi-fi, chairs, and tables - to assist you in your writing. On Wednesdays during November, we will offer a writing space in the conference room, with refreshments provided by the Friends of the Library, from 1 PM – 5 PM. To register as a participant, please sign up at the Reference (Help) Desk. For writers who sign up, we will award a NANOWRIMO mug to the person who writes the most words during November.
Join us on Thursday, November 8 at 7 PM to get some encouragement and inspiration from Dr. Joanna Eleftheriou, Assistant Professor of Literature & Creative Writing at the University of Houston, Clear Lake. Whether you have written a novel before or are just getting started, she can offer some tips. No registration is required for this program.
The library is located at 3009 Center St., Deer Park, TX 77536. The library’s telephone number is 281-478-7208.
