The Deer Park Public Library’s 2018 Summer Reading Program activities are coming up, with lots of fun features for kids, pre-teens, teens and adults.

The program will begin with the Friends of Deer Park Library Scholastic Book Fair, which will take place from May 29th – June 9th during normal library hours. From there, weekly special events, family flicks, crafts and activities will be available for children of all ages to enjoy, not to mention lots of reading!

Registration for the Summer Reading Program will also begin on Tuesday, May 29th. The last day to turn in reading logs and receive prizes will be August 18th. The Summer Reading Club is open to all patrons with programs designed for every age group.

This year, the Summer Reading Program will offer a new way to log summer reading online, called READsquared. According to Library Director Rebecca Pool, the online reading log option will model the physical reading log. “Participants can fill out their reading log online and still receive prizes or be entered into prize drawings,” Pool said. Stay tuned to the Deer Park Public Library’s Facebook page to learn more.

The Scholastic Book Fair is possible thanks to the Friends of Deer Park Public Library, who provide many of the awards available to participants.  “The Scholastic Book Fair proceeds are used to fill the Treasure Book Shelf,” said Pool.  Participants who complete Book Log 5 will receive a free Scholastic Book from the Treasure Book Shelf.
