Music and the Civil War are intricately linked. Music played a role for both the north and the south during the war. On Friday, June 15, 2018, Curt Locklear, an author, historian, musician, and public speaker will discuss the songs and soldiers of the Civil War and perform some music. His presentation will begin at 11 AM in the library’s meeting room.
Mr. Locklear is the author of Asunder and Splintered. He generally plays his guitar and banjo at his speaking engagements and enlivens the presentation with songs, stories and jokes. He will have copies of his books available for purchase after the program.
This presentation is the latest installment in the library’s Featured Friday series. These monthly programs offer a variety of lectures, movies and special programs of cultural, historical and local interest.
Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Deer Park Public Library. No registration is required and all are welcome to attend. There is no admission fee. The library is located at 3009 Center St., Deer Park, TX 77536.
