Effective June 1, 2018, Deer
Park residents and businesses are advised that dual-axle/commercial trailers
will not be permitted access to the Transfer Station, located at 610 Underwood.
According to Ben Alexander,
Sanitation Supervisor, the measure is intended to improve efficiency at the
facility and allow Deer Park residents to drop off debris as quickly as
possible.
“The Transfer Station’s weekend
depository was originally intended for the average residents who didn’t want to
wait until our weekly heavy trash days to dispose of yard waste or debris from
work around the house,” Alexander said. “Over the years, more contractors began
to use the depository after completing remodels or repairs within our city
limits, bringing industrial-sized trailers into the facility.
“Because of confined spacing
within the facility, these dual-axle trailers are preventing customers with
smaller vehicles from entering the facility promptly, with waits as long as 30
minutes to dispose of their items. We hope, by limiting the size of trailers
admitted to the facility, to streamline the process for all of our patrons.”
