The purpose and intent of the Deer Park Parks and Recreation Commission Award is to annually recognize any individual (volunteer) and business within our community that has made contributions to the City of Deer Park Parks and Recreation Department. Contributions are considered to be monetary donations, in-kind services and/or volunteer hours worked with the Parks and Recreation Department in a fiscal year (October through September). The winner of the annual award will be selected in November of each year and presented to City Council in December
The individual (volunteer) must serve or participate in or with a club or organization that directly benefits and participates with the Deer Park Parks and Recreation Department. All candidates must be a resident of the City of Deer Park and/or lives within Deer Park Independent School District and provided services, volunteered or provided monetary donations that directly assisted the Deer Park Parks and Recreation Department. If the service provided is volunteer hours, the candidate must have provided a minimum of sixty (60) hours of volunteer services.
Business: The business must meet one (1) of the following eligibility requirements:
1.A business candidate must have made a substantial financial contribution in a one (1) year period defined from October 1st through September 30th or has made or created an Endowment Program that directly assists the Deer Park Parks and Recreation Department.
A.Small Business ( less than 25 employees): $500.00B.Medium Business ( 26-50 employees): $1,000.00C.Large Business ( over 50 employees): $2,500.00
2.A business candidate must be considered a major sponsor for a Parks and Recreation special event for two(2)years.
3.A business candidate must have provided more than one hundred (100) hours of in-kind services to theDeer Park Parks and Recreation Department.
4.A business candidate must have promoted or provided programs in wellness, the arts, parks or recreationalprograms directly to the City of Deer Park Community.
5.A business candidate has participated in the Adopt-A-Spot program and has sufficiently upheld the requirements set forth by the Adopt-A-Spot Program.
Submissions: All paperwork for the award candidate must be submitted by November 1st of the current year to be considered as a possible recipient. All forms must be submitted to the City of Deer Park Parks and Recreation Department Director. Forms may be submitted in person, by mail or by email at:
