[ARCHIVED] Citizens encouraged to attend Type B meetings on Maxwell Center, Dow Park

During two public meetings on Thursday, June 9, the Parks and Recreation Department will discuss Type B-funded updates to the Maxwell Adult Center and Dow Park.
The first will be held at the Maxwell Center, located at 1201 Center Street, beginning at 10:30 a.m. The second – addressing improvements to Dow Park – will be held in the park, located at 610 E. San Augustine, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
According to Scott Swigert, Parks and Recreation Director, the meetings will allow members of the community who utilize each facility to learn about proposed improvements and changes to each.
“During two separate meetings on June 9, we will present information on Type B-funded projects impacting the Maxwell Center and Dow Park,” Swigert said. “At the Maxwell Center, we will discuss proposed future use of the facility and possible new activities for attendees.
“Later that day, at Dow Park, we will present two conceptual drawings for those in attendance to assess and review, and we will solicit feedback on which concept is preferred. It is critical that our citizens who utilize the many amenities of Dow Park come take part in this public meeting.”
Following the public meeting in Dow Park, attendees are encouraged to stay for the Concerts in the Park kick-off event from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event, featuring R&B/Jazz band Gary Michael Dahl, will be the first of 10 free concerts to be held every Thursday in Dow Park through August 11.
