[ARCHIVED] Popular Elvis Lecture Returns to Library for the Friends Annual Meeting April 12 @ 7 PM

The subject of the program will be the early Texas concerts of Elvis Presley. The library saw a huge turnout when Prof. Davis spoke previously about Elvis. Do not miss out on your chance to hear an encore presentation of this noteworthy program!

Elvis Presley was one of the most successful musicians of the 20th century and his influence remains noticeable today, more than 38 years after his death. He recorded and performed songs in many genres including country, gospel and rock and roll. But before he sold 600 million records, won multiple Grammy awards and made 30 feature films, Elvis performed in East Texas for much smaller audiences. What were these concerts like and how was Elvis received? Mr. Davis will speak about Elvis before he became a superstar.

Steve Davis is a professor in the History department at Lone Star College Kingwood, where he was one of the founding faculty members. He recently received a Teaching Excellence Award from the Lone Star College system.

Refreshments will be provided after the presentation. No registration is required and all are welcome to attend. There is no admission fee. The library is located at 3009 Center St., Deer Park, TX 77536.
