[ARCHIVED] San Jac College Professors to Discuss Fairy Tale History at Deer Park Public Library

What really happened once upon a time? Did they always live happily ever after? Find out at the library! On Friday, February 12, 2016, Dr. David LeMaster and Professor Nick Weiss will give a presentation on the history behind fairy tales. The program will begin at 11 AM in the library’s meeting room.
Many of the stories we are familiar with today have their origins in folklore. Versions of these famous tales have appeared in countries all over the world. Two of the most famous recorders of these tales are Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, who compiled several volumes of stories in the 19th century. Wilhelm Grimm believed that several of these stories originated thousands of years ago. February 2016 will mark Wilhelm’s 230th birthday.
This presentation is the latest installment in the library’s Featured Friday series. These monthly programs offer a variety of lectures, movies and special programs of cultural, historical and local interest.

Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Deer Park Public Library. No registration is required and all are welcome to attend. There is no admission fee. The library is located at 3009 Center St., Deer Park, TX 77536.
