[ARCHIVED] Dow Park Pool Grand Opening Luau

Dumping Bucket at Childrens Pool

The City of Deer Park Parks and Recreation Department is preparing to “make a splash” during Memorial Day weekend with the grand opening of the newly renovated Dow Park Pool located at 610 E. San Augustine. The Department is looking forward to opening weekend and to showcasing our renovated Children’s Pool.
After many years, the Children’s pool now has some special attractions. Over the course of 5 months the children’s pool has been under renovations. With the support of City Council, the Parks and Recreation Commission and City Administration the Parks and Recreation Department was able to secure support and funding for this renovation.
With nothing untouched, including the pool deck, this is sure to be an exciting place this summer. With new features such as the dumping buckets, water sprays, bubblers and an umbrella fountain, every child will find something they enjoy. The old pool patio coverings were removed and are being replaced with new shade structures to match the children’s pool covers. The fences surrounding the pools are being replaced and additional landscaping is being installed inside and out to highlight the renovations to make the pools more attractive for our citizens. On Saturday, May 17th the Deer Park Rotary volunteered and assisted the Department by cleaning Dow Park, Improving the trails, assisting with the landscaping, and making other minor improvements to the Park.
At noon on Saturday, May 24th the Parks and Recreation Department will dedicate the renovated Children’s Pool and open it to the public. After we have dedicated the pool, the party really gets going with the Opening Day Luau! We will have games, food, music, door-prizes and much more for everyone to enjoy. We look forward to seeing you “splash” your way into summer with us. The pool will be open May 24th-26th for Memorial Day Weekend and again the following weekend, May 31st- June 1st before opening for the normal summer schedule on June 7th. The Department is excited about opening this year for the first time the two weekends before school is officially let out for the summer. This is one more step the Department is taking to provide a great quality of life for our citizens and to encourage everyone “Live here, Play here”.
