[ARCHIVED] School Zone Time Changes

The Deer Park Police Department would like to inform everyone of changes to the times in all existing school zones. These times go into effect on January 17th 2014.

Now all school zones within the city limits of Deer Park will have the same times, which are:

Mornings: 07:00 a.m. to 08:30 a.m.

Afternoons: 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This change will create more consistency which should increase voluntary compliance in our school zones. Of course the goal is centered on maximizing safety for our children in these areas at these particular times.

Along with this notification, the Deer Park Police Department would also like to remind everyone that the Deer Park Police Department will be working extra hours under a Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) grant from the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) to try to increase speed compliance around the city, in general. Remember, speeding doesn't result in any significant time savings. A couple of minutes of time savings is hardly worth using more fuel, risking getting a ticket, and more importantly- increasing your likelihood of being involved in a dangerous crash. The faster you're driving, the farther your vehicle is going to travel before you can react and bring your vehicle to a complete stop.

Please slow down and drive safely!
