With the 100th anniversary of the passing of the 19th amendment providing women the right to vote this year, it is a great time to learn more about its passage as well as the stories of people involved that few people today have heard. Join Nancy Sims at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 18 for an online presentation of "Lesser Known Sheroes of the Suffrage Movement."
Ms. Sims, a native Texan with deeply rooted relationships across the state, owns a public affairs consulting firm and teaches a class at the University of Houston entitled "Women in Politics" about the march towards the passage of the 19th Amendment and its impact. On September 18 she will share the inspiring story of the brave women whose suffrage movement transformed American politics and society in the early twentieth century.
This presentation is the latest installment in the Deer Park Public Library’s Featured Friday series. These monthly events offer a variety of lectures, movies and special programs of cultural, historical and local interest.
