While children await Santa Claus’ arrival on Christmas Eve here in the United States, some countries in Europe also celebrate St. Nicholas Day on Dec. 6. St. Nicholas was the Bishop of Myra, a city in modern day Turkey, in the fourth century. Beyond that, who was St. Nicholas, and how did word about him travel to the rest of the world? Learn more about St. Nicholas from Travis Holder, research & instruction librarian at the Texas Medical Center Library and former librarian here in Deer Park, on Friday, December 6 at 11 a.m. here at the Deer Park Public Library.
This presentation is the latest installment in the library’s Featured Friday series. These monthly programs offer a variety of lectures and special programs of cultural, historical and local interest.
Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Deer Park Public Library. No registration is required and all are welcome to attend. There is no admission fee. The library is located at 3009 Center St., Deer Park, TX 77536.
