The Deer Park Public Library’s 2019 Summer Reading Program activities are coming up, with lots of fun features for kids, pre-teens, teens and adults.
The program will begin with the Friends of Deer Park Library Scholastic Book Fair, which will take place from May 28th – June 8th during normal library hours. From there, weekly special events, family flicks, crafts and activities will be available for children and teens to enjoy, not to mention lots of reading!
Registration for the Summer Reading Program will also begin on Tuesday, May 28th. The last day to turn in reading logs and receive prizes will be August 17th. The Summer Reading Program is open to all patrons with programs designed for every age group. As with last year, the Summer Reading Program will offer online summer reading logs through READsquared. This year, you can also download the READsquared App for your mobile device. Paper logs will continue to be available.
The Scholastic Book Fair is possible thanks to the Friends of Deer Park Public Library, who provide many of the awards available to participants. “The Scholastic Book Fair proceeds are used to fill the Treasure Book Shelf,” said Rebecca Pool, Library Director. Participants who complete Book Log 5 will receive a free Scholastic Book from the Treasure Book Shelf.
