I was involved in an auto accident, how long do I have to wait to request a copy of the accident report?
It is suggested you request a copy of an accident report as soon as possible so that we may notify you once it becomes available to our Records Unit. Accident reports are (in most cases) completed within 3-5 working days. In order for you to receive a copy of an accident report you must provide at least two of the following:
Date of accident
Location of accident
Name(s) of individual(s) involved

1.
Once I submit my request in writing how long will it take for me to receive a copy of what I ask for?
All requests are handled as promptly as possible. Most requests take about 5-15 minutes; however, if what you request will take us a few days to complete, you will receive an approximate date to expect your copies and/or a response within ten business days. Local background letters require the chief of police signature; therefore, the letters are not normally completed that same day.

I do not have the case number, what do I need to include in my request?
You do not have to provide a case number. Simply describe in writing the type of record you need, and anything that can help us find the specific record, such as date and type of offense, the address of the offense, individuals involved, names of investigating officers, etc. Also, provide your contact information (your mailing address and telephone number preferred).
