Astronaut, Barry E. Wilmore to speak at Deer Park Public Library!

What is it like to be in space? What is most rewarding about working at NASA? Come to the Deer Park Public Library and learn from someone who has firsthand experience in space, including several spacewalks. Barry E. Wilmore has been an astronaut for more than 16 years and has been on two space flights, totaling 178 days in space. On Friday, April 28, 2017, Mr. Wilmore will speak about his work on the International Space Station. The presentation is titled “International Space Station: Getting There, Living There & Getting Home.” The program will begin at 11 AM in the library’s meeting room.

This presentation is the latest installment in the library’s Featured Friday series. These monthly programs offer a variety of lectures, movies and special programs of cultural, historical and local interest. Mr. Wilmore’s program is one of two space-themed programs to take place at the library in April. On Thursday, April 27, the Friends of the Library will host a presentation by Marianne Dyson at 7 PM. Ms. Dyson will share her experiences as one of the first female flight controllers at NASA.

Refreshments will be provided after the presentation. No registration is required and all are welcome to attend. There is no admission fee. The library is located at 3009 Center St., Deer Park, TX 77536.
