Congratulations to Mayor Jerry Mouton, who received the honor of being designated “Public Official of the Year” by the Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program at the University of Houston.
Mayor Mouton joins a group of five honorees from throughout the Houston area including Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and other leaders.
As stated by the MPA Program Director Dr. James Thurmond, “these officials exhibit qualities consistent with those of the MPA Program– trust, accountability, performance, ethical decision-making, and crossing jurisdictional boundaries to solve problems. We are honored to have them recognized as Public Officials of the Year at the luncheon.”
During his tenure, Mayor Mouton has led the City through major emergencies including Hurricane Harvey and the Intercontinental Terminals Company incident of March 2019. He has also led major quality of life and public safety initiatives in partnership with the other six members of the Deer Park City Council.
“I am truly humbled to receive this award and to be recognized with such esteemed peers,” Mayor Mouton said. “It has been an honor and a privilege to serve on the Deer Park City Council, and I look forward to continuing to guide our community’s growth.”
