The Gulf Coast Feline Foundation and the City of Deer Park will host the third annual “Felines, Football, and Fun” Cat Show on January 24-26, 2020 at the Jimmy Burke Activity Center in Deer Park, Texas.
This show will be another exciting event similar to “Fall, Felines, and Fun” events held in September, and will include a cat show presented by the International Cat Association (TICA).
“The mission for these events continues to be supporting Animal Shelters/Rescue Groups as well as feline disease research groups such as the Winn Feline Foundation,” said Michelle Piatt, Treasurer, Vendor Coordinator, Marketing/Publicity Liaison with the Gulf Coast Feline Foundation. “We’re bringing back one of our fan-favorite features, a designated ‘Pet Me’ area, where spectators meet friendly felines and learn more about their history and personalities.
“Our show hall will represent up to 42 pedigreed breeds plus Household Pets competing for titles, regional, and national wins,” Piatt said. “Breeds such as the Maine Coon, the Bengal, and many more will be available to meet up close and personal. We will be having raffles, contests, and door prize drawings – this is a family friendly event that is fun for all ages!”
As always, the event will feature pet-friendly vendors, concessions and more.
“We’ll also have our agility ring, which will give attendees the chance to watch nimble felines jump over hurdles, run through tunnels, climb steps and run through other obstacles. Attendees can also sponsor a rescue to participate in the agility ring, giving them a chance to play with new toys and try out the obstacles!”
Ready to add a new family member to your home? The “Felines, Football, and Fun” Cat Show will have three area shelters – the Deer Park Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, the La Porte Adoption Center and Animal Shelter and the Pasadena Animal Shelter – with cats and kittens available for adoption.
“Historically, we’ve had great success with connecting cats and kittens with loving homes, adopting out approximately 20 cats at each event,” said Piatt. “We hope to reach or exceed that number in January!”
Don’t forget – there are lots of activities for kids to enjoy, as well!
“Make sure to check out our Kitty Craft Corner, where we’ll be making friendship bracelets with – you guessed it – cat beads!” said Piatt.
One day tickets are $7 for Adults; $5 for seniors and children 6+; free for children 5 and under. Weekend Passes are $10 for Adults; $7 for seniors and children 6+.
The Jimmy Burke Activity Center is located at 500 W. 13th Street, Deer Park, TX 77536.
