PONY International Girls Softball World Series - July 24-27

PONY International Girls Softball World Series

Attention, Houston-area softball fans! Mark your calendars for the inaugural PONY International Girls Softball World Series, to be held in Deer Park, Texas this summer! This FREE tournament, which will be held at the City of Deer Park owned Girls Softball Complex, will allow Houstonians to watch teams from all over the world compete from July 24-27.

“We are so excited to announce that the inaugural PONY International Girls Softball World Series will be held in Deer Park,” said TJ Haight, City Councilman, Pony Region Director, and Vice President of the Deer Park PONY League. “This represents a great opportunity to bring culture, history and revenue to our community, and I think it will be very exciting for visitors to come watch players of different backgrounds and nationalities.”

Haight said the PONY International Girls Softball World Series will host approximately 60 teams playing a world series bracket, a camp conducted by college coaches that makes for a showcase tournament. This showcase will spotlight the abilities of the tournament’s players, who are considered among the best in the world.

“In 2018, the PONY’s Girls Softball Committee proposed the idea of determining a true world champion through a tournament, in similar fashion as PONY Baseball’s World Series events,” Haight said. “These tournaments create an opportunity for sportsmanship on an international scale, and as an organization, we are thrilled to start this tradition for our softball players. What an opportunity to watch and interact as the world comes to Deer Park’s doorstep.”

The series will take place at two venues – the Girls Softball Complex (located at 301 West X Street) and the Adult Softball Complex (located at 2700 E. Pasadena Boulevard). As the tournament continues, games will be held solely at the Girls Softball Complex.

A high volume of attendees and vehicles are expected for this event, particularly on Wednesday, July 24 and Thursday, July 25 as the tournament begins. Area drivers are advised to prepare for road congestion and to seek alternate routes when possible.
