  1. Toddler Storytime

    October 12, 10:15 AM - 10:45 AM @ Deer Park Public Library

    Toddler Storytime is presented on Thursdays at 10:15 AM. Recommended for children up to 3 1/2 years old. Stories and activities during the 20-30 minute session are designed to encourage a love for books and language, increase attention span and develop basic social skills. Parents/Caregivers are required to stay with the toddler and encourage them to participate in the program.

    Preschool Storytime incorporates books, fingerplays, songs, and activities to promote interest in reading and lifelong learning. In these sessions, children listen to stories and participate in group activities.

    Join us for a movie and snacks! The movies will be rated PG or PG-13. Contact the library for movie titles and suggested age ratings.

  4. No News is Good News: People, Politics, and Propaganda in Reconstruction Texas

    October 12, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Deer Park Public Library

    Deer Park Public Library will be a participating institution in the annual Gulf Coast Reads initiative. The purpose of the program is to bring communities in the Upper Texas Gulf Coast Region together by encouraging residents to read and discuss a chosen book. The 2017 Gulf Coast Reads title is News of the World, by Paulette Jiles. It is a historical fiction novel set in Texas during the period following the Civil War. Dr. Ken Grubb will discuss the role of newspapers and the media in post-Civil War Texas. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Deer Park Public Library. No registration is required and all are welcome to attend.
