To serve our God, Country and fellow neighbor is truly a great honor, but to serve alongside the members of the Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department is a rare privilege.

We are only given 24 hours each day, from which a greater portion is spent at work and with family, but what a better way to utilize the time you have left then by helping an injured child, an elderly person who has fallen or a local, family-owned business that is up in flames. To learn the knowledge, attitudes, and skills to respond to such emergencies, potential Deer Park volunteer firefighters will be placed in a 14-week academy consisting of classroom and hands-on training to obtain the principals of extinguishment. The potential EMS applicant will be placed in a six-month mentorship program that includes a focus on learning departmental medical protocols. Successful completion of this academy and mentorship program will open the door to a department that is well-known throughout the State of Texas as one of the best!

As a department organized under the City of Deer Park, our EMS providers and Firefighters are offered enrollment into the TSRS Pension Program, from which a pension can be collected at retirement age after having served a minimum of 15 years in good-standing with the department. Additionally, should the need arise - though we never anticipate using it - disability and survivor benefits are also made available to both Fire and EMS members.

Through shared funding from the Fire Control, Prevention and Emergency Medical Services District, a strong emphasis is placed on each member's continuing education, guaranteeing the opportunity to attend conferences, conventions and local fire and EMS schools. These opportunities will further expand the skills of each member and keep the department's practices up-to-date. Therefore, it is guaranteed that many opportunities will be made available throughout the year to attend conferences, conventions, and local fire and EMS schools that will further expand the skills of the individual member.

With this information in mind, we encourage you to join our team. Ask yourself, ‘If we do not step up to respond, then who will?
